Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction
A structured, evidence-informed programme to help you understand, respond to, and reduce stress.
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is one of the most researched and well-established approaches to improving how we relate to stress.
This 8-week programme is designed to help you build awareness of your stress response, develop practical tools to regulate it, and create more space, clarity, and resilience in your day-to-day life.
Rather than offering quick fixes, this course supports long-term change through consistent practice, reflection, and understanding.
This course is delivered in collaboration with Stress Ed. by Liz, a Stress Ed. trained practitioner and registered member of the Stress Ed. directory. We’re delighted to be expanding our services to further support individuals experiencing chronic stress and burnout through evidence-based, practical approaches.

Why This Training Exists
Many people try to manage stress by pushing through, distracting themselves, or avoiding what feels uncomfortable.
But without understanding how stress shows up in the body and mind, it’s difficult to respond in a way that actually helps.
MBSR offers a different approach.
It helps you:
- Notice your internal experience more clearly
- Understand your patterns of stress and reactivity
- Build the ability to pause, rather than automatically react
- Develop more supportive ways of responding to challenge
This is not about eliminating stress.
It’s about becoming more skilful in how you meet it.
What This Programme Supports
Extensive research has shown that mindfulness-based approaches can support:
Greater self-awareness
Improved stress management
Better physical and psychological health
Reduced anxiety and low mood
Lower levels of tension, anger, and fatigue
Improved sleep
Stronger immune function
Increased energy and vitality
Enhanced relationships

What Previous Participants Say
“Lizzie is a fantastic practitioner, with brilliant expertise and moral compass. She practises what she preaches and has a lovely way of connecting with people on a human level. Her empathy shines through and her kind, warm, funny personality brings a warmth and depth to the skills she possesses.”
Bernie Dancy, Founder and Director of Stress Ed.
“One of the best things I’ve done for myself was to commit to a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course. I took this course with Liz and it had a very impactful effect on my life. It’s helped me manage my own stress and create space to help others manage theirs, and if you want to invest in yourself and directly reduce the stress on your Nervous System then I couldn’t recommend this course, or Liz more.”
Michelle
“I joined Liz’s Mindfulness practice as an absolute beginner. I’d had counselling for my mental health in the past, but always avoided meditation, mindfulness, yoga and the like, as I always assumed that they wouldn’t be a good fit for me, as I’d always had a restless mind. I’d almost always have a screen or a book on the go and rarely spent much time unoccupied, to the point that a lack of distraction activity would lead to stress and anxiety. I joined the course on the recommendation of a friend and found it to be an amazing experience. I’d highly recommend taking a mindfulness course led by Liz. Not only is she a wonderful teacher, she’s a lovely person and truly cares about what she’s doing. The eight week course I took with Liz still resonates with me and taught me a lot about myself. I credit it with helping me find a better approach to decision making and managing anxiety. Thanks for all your help, Liz.”

FAQs
How is MBSR different from ‘meditation’?
This programme goes beyond simply “doing meditation”.
It focuses on:
- Understanding your stress response, not just managing symptoms
- Building awareness before change
- Developing the ability to respond, rather than react
- Learning how to work with difficult thoughts, emotions, and sensations
- Creating sustainable practices that fit into real life
You will leave with tools you can continue to use long after the course ends.
Do I need experience with mindfulness?
No prior experience with mindfulness is needed. This programme is designed for complete beginners and experienced practitioners alike.
What if I can’t attend all sessions?
Obviously, life happens, and there will be times when things are out of your control. That said, we do ask for a genuine commitment to attending live where possible. If you already know you can’t attend several sessions, it may be better to join the next cohort.
A big part of this experience is creating a space for learning, reflection, and connection. This works best when everyone can show up as fully as they can, while also recognising that life happens and flexibility is sometimes needed.
We’re also practising something deeper here, making intentional space for change, and exploring different ways of living that support more balance and wellbeing.
If your first thought is “I don’t have time,” you’re not alone. It’s often a sign that something like this could be particularly valuable. Many people find that what they gain from the course more than makes up for the time they invest over these 8 weeks.
Will sessions be recorded?
If the group is happy, sessions may be recorded and shared if someone misses a session due to unavoidable circumstances. That said, the course is designed to be attended live, and we encourage you to join as many sessions as possible. If you already know you’ll miss several sessions, it may be better to join a future cohort.
Why are there 9 weeks if there are only 8 sessions?
The course includes 8 group sessions but there is no group session on the week of 26th of May. During that week delegates can book an optional 1:1 session with Liz to practise, ask questions, and personalise what you’ve learned.
